Kunar, Afghanistan

As I drove the 5 hour trek from my home in South Dakota to Luther this Sunday night I kept myself awake listening to National Public Radio. For one gripping hour I listened to the audio diary of Hyder Akbar as he visited his home country of Afghanistan. At the time of the recordings in 2003, Akbar's father worked as a government official in Kunar. Today his father is the offical spokesman for the Afghan government. I spent a good half hour trying to track down the online version of his recording. If you have any time, please listen. Somewhere in the middle of the first recording you experience his convoy being ambushed.
